Dear Lafayette, Oxford, and University Community:
The Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies and OutOxford would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make last week’s Second Annual Pride Weekend so special.
Our sincerest appreciation goes out to the officers and staff of the University and Oxford Police Departments for their assistance, logistical guidance, and professionalism. We appreciate the generous community support that we received from Proud Larry’s, The Lyric Oxford, Oxford Film Festival, Cathead Vodka, The Oxford Growler , Bette’s Flowers Inc., Bottletree Bakery, The Cakery Oxford, MS, Graduate Oxford, and Saint Leo, Oxford MS. We are grateful to our UM partners and to the numerous student groups who turned out for the event, along with our wonderful Oxford citizens, and many alumni who came out to march or cheer us on. Tupelo Go-Divas, Pulse Orlando performers, showrunners, and local DJs–we thank you for your creative energy and spirit. You inspired and moved audiences to dance and to celebrate. Finally, many thanks to Matt Kessler for having the vision to make Oxford Pride a reality.
Thank you, Oxford, for making the LGBTQ community welcome here. We look forward to many Pride weekends to come.
With much appreciation,
Jaime Harker, Theresa Starkey, Kevin Cozart, and Ellis Starkey
