Meet Madeline Burdine, our new GA for marketing

Madeline Burdine will be serving as the Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies’ Graduate Assistant for Marketing and Publications for the 2021-2022 academic year. She is a second-year student in the Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communication program at The University of Mississippi.

In May 2020, Burdine earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication with an emphasis in public relations from Mississippi State University (MSU). During her time at MSU, Burdine was selected to participate in the Department of Communication’s newly founded Public Relations & Integrated Student-led Media Agency (PRISM) as both a copywriter and creative coordinator. Within those positions, Burdine had the opportunity to work on two separate account teams, completing creative projects for both PRISM itself and the Stennis Center for Public Service. Burdine and her teams’ projects won a total of five professional awards, selected by the Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM) and Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF).

Burdine’s awards and accomplishments opened the door for other web design projects under the direction of MSU Assistant Professor and former PRISM Director Dr. Terri Hernandez. Those projects included clients such as The Children’s Foundation of Mississippi, the Social Science Research Center’s (SSRC) Evaluation and Research Group, and the SSRC’s Data Science for the Social Sciences Laboratory. Burdine is currently completing a solo design project for the Itawamba County Development Council.

A native of Houston, Mississippi, Burdine is passionate about people. More specifically, she is interested in the cultural and social aspects that affect people’s behaviors on a regional, national, and global level — whether it be positive or negative behavior. She is currently narrowing down the topic in which she wishes to write her thesis, as she is exploring doctoral programs in sociology.

Burdine’s interest in people is the driving force behind her excitement to work with the Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies on important topics and events.
