Tamar Goulet, PH.D.

Professor of Biology

Tamar Goulet is a Professor in the Department of Biology. She looks at how environmental problems affect coral reefs and the organisms who live there. She investigates symbioses, the relationships between two or more organisms from two different species, and how symbioses cope with climate change. She is also an American Association for the Advancement of Science IF/THEN® Ambassador. As an Ambassador, she is a role model who aims to inspire young women to pursue a career they want. The idea is not so much to change peoples’ minds or make people want to be scientists. But, many girls, because they don’t see role models, think that they can’t achieve their aspirations. With a 30-year perspective, Dr. Goulet’s career includes innovation in biology, pedagogical, and women career research, in addition to facilitating learning through teaching innovation, and mentorship. She has received multiple research grants, and regularly publishes her work in multiple scientific journals and the mass media.
