Christopher Hutchinson, PH.D.

Assistant Professor of Modern Languages

Christopher Hutchinson received his PhD from Stanford University in 2019. His research interests include book history, the history of disease, the popularization of scientific discourses in literature, and German-American writing in the Southeastern United States. His first book, “Medical Misinformation in Early Modern Germany,” which examines how doctors, writers, and printers responded to the rapid growth of print media in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, is forthcoming with the University of Delaware Press. He teaches courses on German language, German literature and culture before 1800, and German-American Studies.
