Assistant Professor of Sociology & southern studies

Ryan’s research interests include spatial determinants of inequality, rural and community development, racial and ethnic stratification, and the United States South. He received a PhD in sociology and social policy from Princeton University, an MPhil in development studies from the University of Cambridge, and BAs in international studies and Chinese from the University of Mississippi.
