Debipreeta Rahut, Ph.D.

Instructor of Writing and Rhetoric

Debipreeta Rahut (she/her) holds a PhD in Media and Communication and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Bowling Green State University (BGSU), Ohio. Prior to her doctoral studies, she spent over six years teaching Journalism and Mass Communication in the Indian higher education context, bringing extensive transnational teaching experience, and also worked as a journalist for 'The Statesman', a leading English-language daily based in Kolkata, India.

Her research examines the intersections of gender, technology, and culture, particularly women’s labor and everyday life in transnational contexts, with a focus on India. Her work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals including 'Feminist Media Studies' and 'Development in Practice', among others. She also studies communication pedagogy, emphasizing inclusive and active-learning practices. During her time at BGSU, her teaching received multiple awards for excellence at the department, school, college, university, regional, and national levels.

Gender Studies -Related Research Interests: critically examines the entanglements of gender, technology, and culture, centering women’s labor, social reproduction, and everyday life in India through transnational feminist perspectives.
