Amy Schumacher-Rutherford is an Instructor of Speech Communication and is in the dissertation phase of her PhD in political communication at the University of Kansas. Her research interests include (in)civility, voting behavior, polarization, and generative AI in educational contexts. She has been published in the International Journal of Communication and the Journal of Applied Social Theory. She has recently presented at conferences and led workshops on the effective use of generative AI in the classroom.
